In 2005 I was taken back by the notion that rear hydration carriers though around for almost 20 years where heavy and made of aluminum, no carbon, yet carbon was the hottest thing in cycling…odd I thought. I asked around about these devices in the triathlon world. I had used one of course in Ironman events but it was an after thought, now I wanted to know real opinions, not just mine. And the answer was YES, the market was there for a lightweight carbon fiber unit! And yes, can some wind tunnel testing be done to confirm your ideas! Heck yes and out of the gate Normann Stadler won that years Ironman World Championships with s till standing bike course record. and within 18 months I had reinvigorated the rear hydration carrier and opened the floodgates to others.
